COREY’S CORNER

You’re getting spoiled—two Corey’s Corner recs in one month! But with so much new music and so many fresh movies dropping, it’d feel wrong not to share. Here’s what’s been catching my eyes and ears lately.

Favorite Tune To Tune Into: I’ve been hooked on Disclosure since the summer of 2013, when Latch with Sam Smith was everywhere—you couldn’t escape it, and honestly, I didn’t want to. Fast-forward to now, and they’ve teamed up with Anderson .Paak?! Summer might be cooling down, but No Cap is keeping the heat alive. It’s a poppy EDM track that’s equal parts bounce and bliss—at the very least, you’ll catch yourself nodding along. Haven’t watched the music video yet, so if you have, let me know your thoughts.

Disclosure’s signature face outline aesthetic but on Anderson .Paak, so cool!

Stream-Worthy Selection: Marvel doesn’t always hype their best work, but they’ve dropped a gem with Eyes of Wakanda. This animated anthology is just four episodes, 30 minutes each, on Disney+. It dives into the rich history of Wakanda (home of the Black Panther) in a sharp, Saturday morning cartoon meets sci-fi style. I nearly gave it a perfect score on Letterboxd, and I highly recommend giving it a watch. Seriously, PLU-eazzze support this show, it deserves way more eyes on it.

By the way, Ryan Coolger is behind this!

Something Stimulating, Shocking, or Silly: As a minimalist, I lean into certain ways of thinking to create the lifestyle I want. It’s not a religion—more of a philosophy. Working as a producer in advertising, I see firsthand how deep consumerism runs and how damaging it can be. But I’m human, and yes, I still get sold to. Minimalism caught my interest near the end of high school, and it’s stuck with me since. Here’s a great breakdown of minimalism as an aesthetic vs. a philosophy—and why people often mix the two up.
