Notes on presence, purpose, and dancing like no one’s watching.

“ Your job is to discover who you are and then do it on purpose.”
You just might care a little too much.
There’s so much freedom and power in not caring what others think of you. This isn’t new for me, honestly, I cared less as a kid. Just ask anyone who knew me back then. But as I’ve grown, my emotional intelligence has expanded. Sometimes that’s a fault, other times it’s a saving grace.
Post-Alby (Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival), I’ve been thinking about what it means to bring my full self into more spaces. When you do, you’re not only fully represented; you also feel grounded and confident in whatever room you walk into.
The photo below was taken during a local bar night with a friend. I danced for over an hour straight, all for me. Not for attention, not for anyone else. Just pure joy.
Evan, my friend standing next to the guy in the Spider-Man costume, had never seen me move like that. Wild, considering we’ve known each other all three years I’ve been in L.A. But it just goes to show, different spaces can bring out different versions of you.
I’d love to always feel empowered to be my full self in every space, but we’ll see how the journey unfolds. Wish me luck.

Here’s me, feeling free enjoying myself with my friend Evan. Oh and Spidey tagged along.

My good friend Dale Cosio is making his debut film — a story near and dear to him. It centers on a gritty yet heartwarming tale set in the slums of Manila, following how one discarded meal travels through unseen corners of the city, connecting lives divided by class, hunger, and survival. Dust It Off explores the real-life practice of Pag Pag — gathering and recooking leftover food from the trash — a haunting yet deeply human reflection of resilience. Dale’s goal is to tell this story truthfully, not for pity or outrage, but to help audiences see the people often unseen.
He’s actually out on location in the Philippines as we speak!
Dale was one of the first five people I met when I moved out West. From day one, I asked him what his dream was. He told me about a story that would eventually evolve into this short — one he’s always wanted to bring to life. I told him I’d help however I could. So here’s me doing my part: spreading his dream and asking you all to help make it real.
Believe it or not, Dale is already more than halfway to his GoFundMe goal. If you can, I’m sure he’d appreciate any amount to help him finish the film.
COREY’S CORNER
The Corner welcomes you back — glad you made it.
A space for small joys, creative sparks, and whatever kept me going this week without combusting.
Favorite Tune To Tune Into: New artist alert! I just stumbled onto Boy Soda, and his debut album Soulstar has been looping ever since. Think soul with a splash of R&B and a sprinkle of alt/indie flavor — smooth, vibrant, and ridiculously replayable. Pretty sure this one’s sneaking onto my top albums of 2025 list. If you give it a spin, start with “Hit The Road!” or “Lil Obsession.”
Stream-Worthy Selection: Marvel might not be at its peak anymore, but every now and then, they still drop a banger—especially on the animation side. Marvel Zombies is their latest project that stitches together stories from across the Avengers universe in a surprisingly fun way. If you’ve been keeping up, it’s a satisfying watch just to see all those years of world-building collide. It doesn’t necessarily lead anywhere, but it’s great TV with some seriously clean fight scenes.
Something Stimulating, Shocking, or Silly: How many things do you own that you don’t actually need? Better yet — how many do you use more than twice a year? Might be time to take stock of what’s collecting dust and what can go. Not convinced? Give this video from Matt D’Avella a watch. You might walk away rethinking how you scroll and spend… or maybe not. Either way, it’s worth the click.
